Cold Brew vs Iced Coffee: What’s Actually the Difference?

Cold Brew vs Iced Coffee: What’s Actually the Difference?

People use these interchangeably. They’re not the same thing.

Cold Brew

  • Steeped in cold water for 12–18 hours
  • Low acidity
  • Smooth, heavy body

Iced Coffee

  • Brewed hot, then cooled
  • Brighter, more acidic
  • Lighter body

Which one should you choose?

  • Want smooth and mellow → cold brew
  • Want crisp and vibrant → iced coffee

Common mistake
Pouring hot coffee over ice without adjusting strength. It gets watery fast.

Fix it
Brew stronger if you’re making iced coffee.

Bottom line
They’re two completely different drinks. Choose based on what you like, not what’s trending.
